Down the Rabbit Hole: The Bizarre Worlds of Salvador Dali examines several "bizarre worlds" of one of art histories most prominent Surrealists and most eccentric personalities. Down the Rabbit Hole presents a rare opportunity to view woodblock prints inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy. Although Dante lived and died more than six hundred years before Dali and expressed himself through poetry, there were parallels that scholars later noticed and that attracted Dali. The artist had a similar connection with the otherworldly quality of Alice in Wonderland. Dali himself will be represented in a collection of 10 photographs by Philippe Halsman, a longtime friend of the artist. One of Down the Rabbit Hole's most exciting additions, this collection of photographs shows Dali building and thriving in his own surrealist environment. In these photographs, Dali stares into the eyes of a rhinoceros and cats fly through the air.
